Olive Garden Review

By: Lindsay Keranen

Crazy about pasta and breadsticks? Olive Garden is a highly rated, Italian restaurant in the Grand Rapids area. The bottomless salad, soup, and breadsticks are always prepared fresh. The staff creates a professional and enjoyable environment that fits perfectly with the restaurant’s candlelight ambiance. Olive Garden is a classy, family-friendly restaurant that has a wide range of menu items to choose from to satisfy all guests.

Olive Garden was founded in 1982 in Orlando, Florida. It has since grown to have nearly 900 locations. Most of the locations are in the US, including over 20 in Michigan, but some international locations can be found as well. At each location, their philosophy is, “We want the experience of warmth and caring to extend beyond our restaurant walls.”

When I went to the Grandville Olive Garden location, I ordered the spaghetti and meatballs which was accompanied by their house salad and the signature breadsticks. The breadsticks are always good because they’re warm and cooked perfectly. The salad is always delicious as well. It took about 20 minutes for our main courses to arrive, which is rather quick. Everything looked and tasted fantastic, however our server was not overly welcoming and did not add to the experience. The server did her job but did not go above and beyond as far as guest interactions.

Overall, Olive Garden offers a very sophisticated vibe that is a step up from the average restaurant. Olive Garden has a calm environment that sets it apart from most restaurants which can seem chaotic or rushed. I recommend the pastas because that is what they’re known for and there is such a wide variety to choose from. Just like the complimentary mints, the experience at Olive Garden is delightful.
