Have you ever heard of the step team at GHS? Well if you haven’t you should maybe check it out and consider joining the team! The team was first started by Sophomore Nadia Sherman who says “The team is filled with many people who are fun and you’ll always have a good time with.” Senior Kiera Kootsier says “It’s a great opportunity to meet new friends and new people.” Surprisingly there weren’t many barriers for starting a new club at the school, the only thing they had to do is have a meeting with administration, find an advisor and get their club activities and information approved. The only barrier that was really difficult in the process was that they had to wait a month to do their first real GHS Step Team performance. One really big challenge that is also a future goal for the step team is having a completely dedicated team to actually do perform routines during practice instead of just using it as a “hangout spot.” Another future goal is to actually compete against other schools in competitions and hopefully win most of them. I learned from Kiera’s experiences that her favorite thing about the step team is “You get to meet a lot of new people that you normally wouldn’t get to know.”  To sum it up I think it’s a great way for students to get involved in a new club at the school and is a magnificent place to meet other students.
